FrameQuery vs Iconik AI pricing: the cost of 1,000 hours
Compare $1,500 for one-time archive processing or $912 across four Max billing months with Iconik's AI credits and published 2025 rates.
FrameQuery's one-time archive processing costs $1.50 per hour of footage, or $1,500 for 1,000 hours. You can also index the same archive for $912 across four monthly Max billing periods. Both cover transcription, object detection, and scene descriptions. FrameQuery pricing.
At Iconik's published January 2025 pay-as-you-go rates, video AI and transcription for the same duration would cost $9,400. FrameQuery's one-time archive price is about 84% less than that older rate-card figure; the four-month Max option is 90.3% less. Current Iconik Pro and Enterprise packages use AI credits, with dollar pricing supplied by quote.
One-time archive processing: $1.50 per hour
For an existing library, archive processing lets you index the backlog without spreading it across monthly Max allowances. At $1.50 per hour of footage, a 1,000-hour archive costs $1,500. Arrange archive processing through Studio.
FrameQuery also offers an enterprise option for teams processing well over 300 hours per month, with custom quotes for ongoing workloads.
FrameQuery: four months of Max
Max costs $228/month on monthly billing, with 300 hours of indexing each month. Index 300 hours in each of the first three billing periods, then the remaining 100 hours in the fourth:
4 × $228 = $912.
That leaves 200 hours unused in the final month. The calculation assumes you're using the allowance for this archive only. New footage and repeat indexing use the same allowance, and unused hours don't roll over. Plan details.
Iconik's 2025 pay-as-you-go rates
The rate card in Iconik's January 2025 pricing announcement lists:
- Video AI: $8.40 per hour.
- Transcription: $1.00 per hour.
For 1,000 hours, that's 1,000 × ($8.40 + $1.00) = $9,400, before seats, storage, or facial recognition.
FrameQuery's $1,500 archive price comes to 16% of that amount. The four-month Max cost of $912 comes to 9.7%, or roughly one tenth. The comparison uses Iconik's 2025 usage rates; current Pro and Enterprise quotes have their own allowances and terms.
Iconik's current AI credits
Pro and Enterprise packages include a shared AI-credit allowance. Iconik's documentation gives these rates for processing video:
| Operation | Credits per hour | Credits for 1,000 hours |
|---|---|---|
| Speech-to-text | 1 | 1,000 |
| Video image/object recognition | 7 | 7,000 |
| Video facial recognition | 2 | 2,000 |
| All three | 10 | 10,000 |
Running all three services once across 1,000 hours uses 10,000 AI credits. The speech service also covers translation, topics, and summaries. Included credits expire each billing cycle; additional credits are available by subscription or overage.
The billing guide prices ordinary account credits at $1 in USD accounts. Packaged AI credits have no published dollar conversion. An archive quote needs to include the subscription, monthly AI allowance, additional credits, and any storage or transfer charges.
What you can search
Dialogue. FrameQuery's dialogue search finds exact phrases or passages about a subject, with results linked to their timecodes. Iconik has timecoded transcripts and speaker separation when supplied by the transcription provider.
Objects and scenes. FrameQuery includes object detection and scene descriptions in its paid indexing plans. Iconik generates timecoded visual tags and announced natural-language search in beta in September 2026.
People. Enable FrameQuery's local face and voice recognition, assign detected identities to names, then search for a person across recordings. The models and source media need to be available, and missed or split matches may need correction. Iconik includes facial recognition in Professional and Enterprise.
Bib and jersey numbers. FrameQuery's Competitor Numbers feature reads printed digits on people's torsos. Search bib:100 to find footage where that number was detected. The scan runs locally and uses no extra processing minutes. It excludes banners and scoreboards; blur and small digits can prevent a match. Iconik's published AI-credit schedule has no separate bib-number entry.
Keep searching after the indexing is done
After one-time archive processing, searching your local index is free. If you use a monthly plan, you can cancel after indexing and keep searching too. New indexing stops and hosted sharing pauses until you resubscribe.
The $912 budget covers four Max payments. If you keep adding footage or need ongoing hosted sharing, allow for further subscription payments.
Choosing for your team
FrameQuery combines cloud indexing with local search. For an editor working from drives or a NAS, that means a searchable archive on their own machine, with no ongoing subscription needed to search footage already indexed.
Iconik brings distributed storage, review, permissions, and production integrations into a central platform. Its pricing covers that wider team workflow. Both products support existing storage.
Before committing a whole archive, try a noisy interview, a wide event shot, and someone who appears across several recordings. Check the matches you'd use in an edit and how much correction they need. Our FrameQuery vs Iconik comparison covers the wider workflow differences.
