Sharing
Publish your index for anyone with the code to search, or share a cloud-hosted link complete with streamable video previews.
Publish your Tantivy index. It's compressed with tar.zst and encrypted with AES-256. Share the resulting file via a local folder, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a network share. The recipient enters your access code in FrameQuery and can search immediately.
You control how biometric data is shared: include person names, anonymise them, or strip biometric data entirely.
Available on every plan, including Free.
Share an index with cloud-hosted video. Recipients use the app like normal - search, browse the scene timeline, read transcripts - the only difference is the video streams from the cloud instead of being stored locally.
Proxy storage is shared with reviews. An hour of proxy video is roughly 300 MB at default quality. You can remove unused proxies at any time to free up space.
Access management
See everyone subscribed to your published index and revoke any subscriber's access instantly.
Pro: 100 GB (~330 hrs) · Max: 600 GB (~2,000 hrs)
Subscriptions
Enter an access code to subscribe to someone else's index. It downloads as a read-only local index and is searchable alongside your own library. Subscribing is free on every plan, and you can also download proxy media from the publisher for local playback.
Enter the access code
The publisher gives you an alphanumeric code. Enter it in FrameQuery to subscribe.
Search alongside your own indexes
The subscribed index appears next to your local indexes. Search spans all of them or any combination.
Pull updates
FrameQuery can check if the publisher has released a newer version. Download the update with one click.
You can also point FrameQuery at a watched folder (local or network) and it auto-detects new .fqx index archives as they land.
Backup
Every backup is encrypted with Age (a modern replacement for PGP) and saved as a .fqbackup file. To restore, select the file and enter your password. FrameQuery merges data, applies migrations, respects biometric consent, and re-indexes your search library automatically.
Back up to a local folder, a NAS, or a cloud drive (Google Drive and Dropbox are built in). Run backups manually whenever you want, or set a schedule (daily, weekly, or custom) and FrameQuery handles it in the background.
Backup is free on every plan.
